About Jarrod
Jarrod is an experienced Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT). He enjoys working with couples, families, professionals, youth, and college students. Jarrod provides pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, and individual counseling; he encourages emotional and relational growth, and works with issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, sexual health, intimacy issues, and family dynamics. Jarrod is also a certified sex therapist (CST) under the American Board for Christian Sex Therapists.
As a clinician, Jarrod values treating clients in a holistic way. He has a warm, balanced style of therapy and uses a variety of approaches to counseling: family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, group therapy, and narrative therapy. He is able to look at problems from a Christian Worldview, while respectfully empowering clients to grow in their own values and interpersonal relationships. Jarrod was the director of the Real Connection Men's Therapeutic Groups at Haven Counseling Center for healthy sexuality for seven years. He is highly experienced in facilitating meaningful group therapy for men dealing with unwanted sexual behaviors.
Jarrod graduated from Baylor University in 2003 with a B.A. in International Studies. He worked as a minister for over a decade in Knoxville and served in various roles as a college pastor, worship leader, and lead pastor. He also worked for a non-profit in Knoxville called With Inc. and provided mentorship to individuals and couples in need. Jarrod graduated from Richmont Graduate University in 2018 with a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
He is a current member of the (AAMFT) American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and has completed advanced training to become an Approved Supervisor under AAMFT. He is excited to come alongside others in their life journey, and enjoys offering supervision to developing therapists as they learn to sharpen their clinical skills.
Jarrod grew up in East Texas, but has lived in the four-season beauty of Knoxville since 2004. He enjoys going on dates with his incredible wife, good coffee, and the latest National Geographic magazine. You can often find him playing baseball with his three boys or listening to 90’s music. In his free time, Jarrod also loves painting or writing creative posts to share with friends in a local writers group called Knox Writes.
