Therapy for Counselors and Other Professionals

"Don't forget to pause and nourish yourself a bit along the way. When you're born to help others
sometimes you forget to help yourself."

Paula Heller Garland
Therapists and others working in the helping and healing professions have tremendously compassionate hearts. Our work requires a unique level of emotional, cognitive and physical presence that can, sometimes, leave us feeling as if we are running on fumes. In addition to caring for clients we are often upholding additionally important roles such as spouse, parent and friend. We are so used to reaching toward and showing up for others that it can be difficult to know where to turn when we are in need of support.

Compassion fatigue can bring a great clinician to their knees and leave them withdrawing from their work, their friends and their families. As symptoms progress, clinicians can find themselves isolating, turning to substances or other addictive behaviors to cope, experiencing distress in their personal relationships and more. It is important for professionals to have a safe, trusted place to turn to in time of need.

Counseling services are available to helping and healing professionals living in Tennessee and Florida. I maintain active licensure in both states and happy to provide services via telehealth for convenience.

I work with therapists and other professionals work through:
  • Compassion fatigue
  • Burn out
  • Overwhelm
  • Educational stress (for graduate counseling students)
  • Self of therapist work
  • Relationship strain due to work
